PowerClean 2006 Trade Show and Convention

Highlights

Wrapping up the details of PowerClean 2006 is always enjoyable; it gives the CETA Staff and Board of Directors time to take a moment to remember everyone that made the show a great success. Many thanks to you…the exhibitor, your participation is highly valued; thanks to the attendees and everyone who donated their valuable time, efforts and resources on committees and programs throughout PowerClean. We also extend our sincere thanks to all the PowerClean Sponsors; their generosity made possible, in part, functions and entertainment during PowerClean 2006; join us in extending our heartfelt thanks…

On Saturday convention participants had an opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of friendship on the PowerClean Excursion or join in the friendly competition during the Six Annual Golf Tournament.

Forty five PowerClean sightseers boarded the bus at the Riviera Hotel and Casino on Saturday morning headed for the incredible Discovery Tour at the Hoover Dam then on to Lake Mead for a luncheon cruise and many photo opportunities. Last stop…the Ethel M chocolate factory! This was a wonderful opportunity to stock up on those “Chocolate Goodies” before returning to the hotel.

Over 55 golfers depart the Riviera Hotel & Casino amid sunshine and great temperatures and headed for the beautiful Las Vega Paiute Sun Mountain Golf Resort. After a few practice putts they were off on an 8:00 am Shot Gun Start. Participants enjoyed perfect weather and a good round of golf returning to the club house for lunch and some good natured teasing.  Congratulations to the following teams/individual(s) who claimed Bragging Rights for 2006! We extend our special thanks again this year to Chuck Prieur with Cleaner Times magazine; every year Chuck volunteers to station himself out on the course to snap great team photos, many thanks Chuck!

We would like to extend our thanks to the CETA Member companies who sponsored “Tee Boxes” at the golf tournament in an effort to help offset the costs.

Friends and associates came together Saturday evening for CETA’s Opening Reception at the “Top of the Riv”. Thanks to General Pump for sponsoring, in part, this very successful event.

The Board of Trustees for the CETA Education Foundation kicked-off the Third Annual Silent Auction for the Education Foundation. This year’s offering of Silent Auction items was the largest ever! The CETA Staff and Board of Trustees extend our heartfelt thanks to the companies and individuals who made this auction so successful.

During the Opening Reception Ben Benefield, Chairperson of the Education Foundation offered attendees an opportunity to participate in the Foundation’s 50/50 Game; as most of us found out its pretty difficult to resist Ben’s sales pitch. Ben and the other Trustees used the same enthusiasm to sell tickets through out PowerClean. Their goal was to hit $5,000…thanks to everyone who participated in the 50/50 Game. The Education Foundation actually broke $4,700.  

As MC of the Industry Banquet on Monday evening Ben had the honor to announce the winner of the 50/50 game. Participants held their breath as Trustee Tim Layden drew the ticket…someone was just seconds away from winning over $2,300.  Ben announced the ticket number and Teresa Rasmussen (wife of President R. Calvin Rasmussen) jumped out or her chair waving the winning ticket. After thanking Ben and the Board of Trustees, Teresa committed a marvelous act of kindness and generosity…she donated her winnings back to the Education Foundation. Many, many thanks Teresa!

This year’s educational seminars featured two keynote speakers. Sunday’s workshop with Rod LeGrande, sales coach and author, featured the strategy necessary in “Finding and Retaining Top Notch Employees.”  Monday attendees enjoyed Ed Rigsbee’s in your face humor and his presentation on “Partnering for Profit – Your Ultimate Business Strategy.”

Sunday and Monday afternoons attendees headed for the exhibit floor at the Riviera Hotel & Casino and were treated to exhibits of the latest and greatest equipment, chemicals, water reclamation, accessories and more. CETA Member companies added excitement to Monday afternoon by holding a “Pays to Attend” drawing for Distributor attendees; winners needed to be present to accept gift certificates and cash prizes. We extend our sincere thanks to the following companies for the generosity and participation in this program.

PowerClean 2006 activities concluded on Monday evening with the Industry Banquet and Awards Ceremony. Congratulation to the following companies/individuals who received this year’s prestigious awards…

• 2006 Community Service Award was presented to Alfred Kärcher GmbH and Co. KG., Germany for their contribution to the National Park Service in cleaning Mount Rushmore.
• 2006 Distinguished Service Award is given to a person who is both outstanding in the industry and dedicated to community service… Congratulations Karl Loeffelholz.
• 2006 Market Expansion Award was presented to General Pump for their new Generation series pump line.
• 2006 Technological Innovation Award was presented to Mi-T-M Corporation for their Cold Climate Container.
• The recipient of the 2006 Life Time Achievement Award was Charlene Yarbrough, publisher of Cleaner Times magazine. 

Congratulations to all the 2006 award winners!

The Six Real Brothers (aka the Knudsen Brothers) topped off a great evening. Their fast-paced acapella singing and dancing had everyone tapping their toes!

Thanks to everyone for a very successful and enjoyable convention; we’ll look forward to seeing you at PowerClean 2007 at the beautiful Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando Florida; convention dates for 2007 will be Sunday, September 23 through Tuesday, September 25.
